Really Discouraging - Vivitar Mini Digital Camera Review

However, its good compare it to other point and shoot cameras. The 720p HD video is great to have as well.

The only great point about it that I actually do like is the HD Video. We have an HDTV and purchased the HDMI cable, and the videos look great on our TV. The 720p HD video looks awesome, especially on your HD TV. No issues with this camera.

It took acceptable photos in the pool and on a couple of snorkeling excursions. I've since used it on hiking trips when rain is expected and getting near waterfalls. I took 30 pictures at my 3 year olds birthday party (at a water park) and I had to edit every single one when I downloaded them to my computer. Colors were washed out by the aggressive flash on any close-up pictures. Go for it I liked this camera out of the box. The software is intuitive, the options varied and I took it to the tide pools right away and got some great super macro shots of marine life underwater. Had fabulous underwater pictures and videos, along with water close pictures like snorkeling and beach pictures. Blue water and colorful fish were amazing in pictures. I carried that camera there for 19 months without a glitch. Every day it was in my cargo pocket ready for action no matter the environment, sand storms, cold, hot, dust, and it received its fair share of dents and scratches along the way. Maybe vendors other than Beach Camera are including the manual/software, or maybe we just got one boxed by someone having a bad day at the factory and it was accidentally omitted. Not sure, thought I'd warn others.

Most of us have been using these for years now; this one takes some time to figure out. Spend some time with the manual to understand its menus and order of operation before taking any high-value pictures.

The manual for this camera is online I believe. Haven't tried the underwater feature but hopefully it will work out, it seemed to get good reviews from other users.

This is my fourth digital camera, having Sony and Cannon before buying this one. The camera is definitely durable many functions and options but poor picture quality.

When using the camera underwater in the pool, along with outside the pool the camera took great pictures. The camera has a lot of settings to choose from to make sure you are taking a good picture.

It would shut off without reason while I was setting up a posed picture. Battery charged, no buttons pressed, just sitting there, lining the kids up or whatever, and 'beep' the camera shut off. I'll find out what he thinks once I ship it off to him. Great service, fast shipping, and the camera came with everything it needed!
