Used To Be Great - Samsung Digital Camera Critique
It was just past the one year warrantee. It is ruined and has not successfully dried out. I was constantly trying to figure out how to change them and often would give up and go for the automatic--which never was very good. I finally started taking them in automatic and changing the lighting and such in a computer editing program.
My family and I went on a dolphin excursion and the camera took some amazing pictures and videos (above and below water). Overall: GREAT, GREAT, GREAT BUY! I am currently shopping to replace that camera for upcoming cruise and would not take a chance on the same brand. This little camera was bought as a replacement to our old waterproof camera that we left at the top of a mountain (Olympus Stylus 850 SW). It tends to drain quickly unless you compromise quality. I was delighted at the picture quality.
I have a 14GB-Class-10 memory card installed. Class-10 is the fastest card there is.
The camera is the slowest when taking multiple pictures in a row with the flash. The flash does take some time to recharge, but I don't think this is a big issue.
Manual or computer panoramic mode is better. If someone is interested, I could send some pictures (outdoor or underwater).
One tech person told me the problem was my iPhoto software and I should contact Apple (I thanked him, and called back to get a more knowledgeable person). After 4 calls and 2 emails to tech support, I still do not know if I need to initialize the camera or not. I'll find out what he thinks once I ship it off to him. Great service, fast shipping, and the camera came with everything it needed!
There are three underwater settings. Close up, landscape, and action. It has duel time zones so you know what time it is where you are and back home for when you're traveling. The photo editing in camera is pretty effective, and saves time editing later. The screen would work, show menus but the camera itself wouldn't show anything on the screen with the lens was open. It was very odd, we waited a few minutes and tried again and it worked fine. When I saw this camera in the store, I was very impressed. The salesman took the camera and banged it against a metal post, showing that it would not dent or scratch, or even better, break.
